The Art and Passion Behind PetnPaw Oil Portraits

I was born in Cartagena, Colombia. Both my BFA and MFA degrees were obtained at New York’s Pratt Institute. My professional career began more towards the commercial side and included teaching in college, and working in several firms as Art Director, Graphic Designer, Illustrator, etc. A year in Britain exposed me to the marvelous sporting art of the 18th, 19th and 20th century masters, which influenced me so, that I began to paint horses and pets. Moving to the United States years later allowed me to try other art related disciplines such as murals, trompe d’oeil effects and faux finishing. These experiences enriched my sensibility and knowledge of techniques and art in general. I like to paint all subjects but have dedicated a great part of my art endeavors to animal portraiture. I have worked mainly out of Bogota, Colombia, W Palm Beach, Florida, and Houston, Texas.
